East TN Heart Sponsors Knoxville Youth Track
Club
Knoxville, Tenn. – East Tennessee Heart Consultants (ETHC) is
proud to announce that it is sponsoring the 2007 Summer Youth Track
Program for the Knoxville Track Club. The program involves children
ages 5 – 13 throughout East Tennessee.
ETHC made the commitment because more children than ever are battling
obesity and diabetes and these issues can lead to cardiac problems later
in life. ETHC wants to promote making healthy life choices early in
life so that East Tennesseans grow-up with healthier hearts.
“We have physicians who are life time runners and they personally
know the positive effects of learning about track and field,” said
Beth Maynard, ETHC Director of Marketing and Physician Recruitment. “We
also have physicians’ children who have actively participated
in this program so we know that it is fun and well organized. Through
this program, children learn about fitness, competition, and most importantly,
having fun while doing something healthy.”
The Summer Youth Track Program exposes children to the fundaments
of track and field with an emphasis on fun and fitness. Practices begin
May 29 at 21 sites throughout the area. Meets then take place on each
Saturday throughout June at the University of Tennessee’s Tom
Black Track.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to have ETHC as a sponsor,” said
Marty Sonnenfeldt, Director of the KTC Youth Athletics Program. “The
physicians have shown their commitment to supporting heart healthy activities
for East Tennessee children.”
